The Salt Water Chapter of the Retreads® was formed back in the fall of 2009. We were, and still are, the only Retreads® motorcycle Chapter East of Ontario and the very first Chapter to be in Atlantic Canada hence our name, Salt Water!
Currently, we have about 35 club members, all of whom are over the age of 40. Some say they're only 18 with about 22 years experience, but its all good.
We come from several different communities; Enfield, Elmsdale & District, Halifax & Dartmouth, Sackville and Beaver Bank. We come from all different walks of life, we drive all sorts of different makes & models of bikes why yes, even Honda's & Harley's ride in perfect harmony here. However, there is one simple common thread that can be found among us......"The Love of Motorcycles!"
We are a great group of motorcycle enthusiast who love to ride and some ride to eat, or live to ride & eat as the case may be, but hitting those open roads and winding trails while the sun splits the rocks and the wind is at our backs, now thats our main interest! The real bonus of all of this is the enjoyment of the camaraderie that only a motorcyclist can understand and appreciate!
We come together regularly as a group for what we like to call our Biker Breakfast. We meet the 2nd Saturday of every month, rain or shine, bike or car, at the Hilton Garden Inn for 9:30am. We swap stories, tell tales and plan our wildest adventures. We have no secret handshake, so come and introduce yourself and get acquainted with the group, we'd love to see ya!

Charitable participation from the biker community is nothing short of inspiring. Bikers not only give to charity rides they also help put these events together. The Salt Water Retreads® is no exception. We regularly ride and contribute to events, runs and rallies that benefit those in the most critical need; missing, sick, abused and deprived children, individuals fighting cancer, amputee’s and those with diabetes and the list goes on ….
In the true spirit of giving we decided to create and start an annual poker run that would benefit the Dog Guides from the Lions Foundation of Canada year after year ~Ride for Dog Guides~
Since 1983, the lives of over 1200 men, women and children from the age of 8 to 84, have been enriched by the services of specially trained Dog Guides from Lions Foundation of Canada. These Dog Guide handlers from coast to coast have experienced the enrichment of their lives through the newfound freedom and independence with the companionship and assistance of a devoted Dog Guide partner.
In addition to training Dog Guides for people who are blind or visually impaired, the Lions Foundation also trains Dog Guides to meet the needs of Canadians with hearing and other medical or physical disabilities; Canine Vision Dog Guides, Hearing Ear Dog Guides, Special Skills Dog Guides, Seizure Response Dog Guides and Autism Assistance Dog Guides.
The annual ~Ride for Dog Guides~ is in support of the Enfield, Elmsdale & District Lions Club and is held the 3rd Saturday of July and is open to all bikers and motorcycle enthusiasts from everywhere & anywhere!
This is a fantastic cause! The Salt Water Retreads are both very pleased and proud to have raised over $1700 our very first year with the help and generosity of so many bikers!
